Full-time Interaction Designer - Serco

at Leeanne Montgomery (Anywhere)

Are you passionate in designing innovative solutions to challenging problems?

This is a varied and challenging role for an interaction designer, probably with at least 2 years commercial or public sector experience and with an outstanding portfolio. The role will involve:
•Using your research and design thinking skills across a variety of environments (both technical and non-technical) to help translate business challenges into innovative outcomes for internal and external clients.
•Taking research insights and turning them into practical design solutions or actionable design recommendations.
•Communicating the design and recommendations to the audience in the most appropriate visually appealing way.
•Working along with small teams of consultants to deliver small and medium sized projects with minimal oversight from account managers.
•Supporting field research to uncover the behaviours and motivations of customers and users (techniques such as contextual enquiry, workshops and focus groups with customers and stakeholders).
•Assisting and coordinating lab based usability testing, user research and in-depth interviews.
•Shaping responses to client briefs and helping with research plans and proposals.

This is a broad and stimulating research role that requires much more than just designing user interfaces.

Who we’re looking for – someone who can add to & make a difference within our team

Take pride in your work, problem solver, gets things done? We need a motivated individual who:
•Keeps user-centred design at the core of everything.
•Has good knowledge in end-to-end product lifecycle and service design.
•Is ready to create paper sketches, wireframes, mockups, infographics and interactive prototypes for varied devices such as kiosks, websites, mobile apps, smart watch apps, internet of things etc.
•Can share the design expertise and collaborate with user researchers, developers and other designers to produce design solutions.
•Has in-depth knowledge and practical experience in designing interfaces and user flows across varied devices.
•Knows what level of fidelity and what tools are needed to communicate the design at various stages of the product life-cycle.
•Analysis the available research data and design personas, customer journey maps, service blue prints, process flows etc.
•Relishes solving difficult problems. Not just the UI problems but the whole experience design, for example, “Why aren’t customers using this retail facility?” or “How can we help a borough council solve an anti-social behaviour issue that costs them a lot of money each year?”.
•Feels comfortable dealing with ambiguity or a lack of structure, such as projects with a wide brief or where you need to work out the way forward and come up with an approach. Your attitude will be one that is “How can we do this” rather than “we can’t do that”.
•Has a strong interest in all things related to design, as well as research.
•Is passionate about and committed to delivering great work on all projects. You’ll be someone who wants to take ownership of a project or your part in it.
•Can work in a self-directed, flexible and adaptable manner
